1 Logo & 1 Visual Identity
The central government of the Netherlands has a new logo and a new Visual Identity to go with it. This will affect everything from letterheads to websites, uniforms to government vehicles.
Why 1 Logo?
The various bodies that make up central government currently use some 200 different logos. With so many different logos in circulation, citizens no longer know what organisations are actually part of central government. This has an adverse effect on the public’s perception of government authority and legitimacy. The introduction of a single logo and Visual Identity promotes familiarity and accessibility. By means of a single logo we hope to show that all central government organisations, however different they may be, have the same fundamental mission: safeguarding the country’s interests. They do not work for individual citizens but for society as a whole. Examples of government services include building roads, awarding grants, collecting taxes and protecting fundamental rights. The new logo is a change of form, but reflects a deeper substance. A unified Visual Identity can also save money. This is in keeping with the Central Government Reform Programme, which aims to improve quality and efficiency.
